OBJECTIVE: Intervention with a structural purpose.
Construction of weirs, in a stream in the Schnalstal valley, with Ledrosteelbox gabions, by the Bolzano Mountain Basins.
The devices were mounted and filled in place because it was not possible to move heavy loads on site. The stone material used was recovered directly from the riverbed.
Logs laid on top of gabions are sacrificial elements in case of floods with heavy material discharge.
Ledrense Metallurgy Cooperative Society assisted both at the technical level during design and on site during installation.
