Building constructed with Ledrosteel Foundation
In Trento, in the heart of Trentino, we have partnered with XLAM Dolomites in the construction of a new office building: a wooden structure built through a fast, precise and functional construction system, perfectly in line with the latest sustainable building standards.
GOAL:
The intervention aimed to create an alternative foundation to the traditional reinforced concrete slab, reducing construction time and costs without compromising safety and durability. The entire structure had to rest on a solid base, compatible with prefabricated elements in XLam, while ensuring executive precision and sustainability.
PROPOSAL:
To meet the design requirements and reduce the environmental impact of the work, we proposed the technology Ledrosteel Foundation: prefabricated structural gabions made of electrowelded mesh, the result of more than three years of research in collaboration with DII, DICAM (Trento, Italy) e CNR-IBE (San Michele all'Adige), certified on the basis of the relevant “European Technical Assessment” (ETA) published 02/28/2022. An ideal solution for buildings made of wood, thatch or similar materials.
REALIZATION:
The foundations were laid quickly by prefabricating and dry-laying the Ledrosteel Foundation (LSF) gabions., avoiding the traditional steps of formwork, reinforcement and concrete pouring.
Above the foundations, the first HE 140 steel deck, consisting of girders brought to the site already partially assembled, to which was superimposed a slab in XLam.
Above the attic was laid a wooden sleeper, on which the vertical and roof panels made of XLam, which were also partially pre-assembled, allowing for extremely fast and precise installation.
The entire rough structure was completed in a single day and a half, with executive efficiency made possible by the preliminary assembly of components.
OUR CONTRIBUTION:
Thanks to our technology Ledrosteel Foundation, we have made possible a highly efficient intervention, reducing environmental impact and proposing an alternative foundation perfectly integrated into the systems of wooden construction. A project that demonstrates how innovation, speed and sustainability can coexist, redefining the very concept of foundation in contemporary construction.
