14 October 2024By mid-March, the work will be completed: a large slope retaining wall is under construction, then the asphalt surface.
Work has begun to restore the stretch of road in Moruri, the northernmost hamlet in the municipality of Verona, which was damaged by a landslide caused by a cloudburst in late August.
The street affected by the intervention is Contrada Duello, in the 8th Ward. It is here that the violent bad weather caused a subsidence about 15 cm deep, resulting in the downward landslide of part of the escarpment and its associated embankment, for a road that was visibly weakened.
The area was immediately cordoned off and secured, meanwhile, scheduling of consolidation and reconstruction work began immediately to ensure the road is passable for all users, including public and emergency vehicles.
This is a full-bodied intervention, involving two phases of work. The first, more arti-culate, is used to carry out the actual work of conte nishment of the escarpment, with a reinforced concrete slab at the base over the entire longitudinal development of the landslide. The second, to follow, will be the milling and resurfacing of the road surface with restoration of road functionality and road markings.

The cost of the work, funded by the municipality, is 40 thousand euros. The work will be completed by mid-March.
On site, within hours of the cloudburst, Mayor Federico Sboarina and Roads Councillor Marco Padovani had visited to verify the extent of the damage and reassure residents about the immediate scheduling of the construction site. "As promised, we are putting defined vamente secure this portion of the territory,“says Sboarina.” The cloudburst here caused a dangerous landslide, we intervened immediately to secure it to guarantee public safety, now we are taking decisive action.
"The Moruri location was one of the first to be checked after the cloudburst," comments Roads Councillor Marco Padovani, "With the District offices we immediately realized the scope and scheduled the work. We take advantage of the need for the consolidation work to also intervene on the asphalt, which will be completely redone. In about 10 days' time, the work will be completed."
